In centrally-planned economies, an individual or a select group of
individuals must determine the allocation of resources, but those
planners will never have enough information to carry out this
allocation reliably. The efficient exchange and use of resources
can
be maintained only through the price mechanism in free markets. --

A modern corporation is a centrally-planned heirachical economy. These heirarchies are clumsy at best. As you funnel information from the line level to the executive team in a traditional organization, you lose most information, and distort the rest; in technology organizations, terminology mismatch between the line level and executive team causes further distortion. The person or people at the top don't get the information they need to make accurate decisions.
