Roadmap
-
Usable version, forward compatible with security architecture, but crypto and networking code deferred in order to get a release out the door:
- no wire encryption
- UDP broadcast/HTTP fetch
- no user ACLs, no authentication
- must run cli as root
- no signatures on deltas
-
- Add ability to shut off UDP broadcast packets in favor of point-to-point.
- Drop support for python 2.2; add support for python 2.4.
- Add HMAC wire encryption.
-
Network protocol upgrade release.
- protocol dispatcher -- see VersionManagement
- TCP mesh to replace UDP
- possibly retire HTTP file transport
Limitations:
- no user authentication -- must run CLI as root
- no PGP signatures on journal entries
- no wire encryption
-
See FiveTargets for possible targets for this series.
